Billboard chart-topping Saints of Valory partners with local nonprofit Well Aware in exclusive holiday event
AUSTIN – Having recently returned from opening for the Rolling Stones, the Saints of Valory will be performing a one-night exclusive show Dec. 12 during a special holiday event to generate awareness for desperately needed water infrastructure in East Africa through local nonprofit Well Aware.
During Well Aware’s holiday event “Rockin’ in a Winter Waterland,” Saints of Valory will play its hits and newly recorded music not yet released to the public from 7-10 p.m. at Vuka, 411 W. Monroe St. The group’s vision for charity work and the overall success of Well Aware’s water systems formed a special partnership that will kick off at this event with the donated concert and continue through next year with additional efforts.
“We just connected with Well Aware’s vision and what they do,” said Gavin Jasper. “A lot of us spent time in third world countries and have done a fair amount of charity work, so it’s exciting to back something you believe in.”
In addition to the concert, there will be a live auction that includes photography by award-winning National Geographic Creative Photographer Greg Davis and artwork from rock ’n’ roll watercolorartist William K. Stidham.
There will also be gourmet hors d’oeuvres from Word of Mouth Catering and Events, beer from Thirsty Planet Brewing, cocktails from Dripping Springs Vodka and Spirit of Texas Distillery, kombucha from Wunder-pilz and other treats.
General admission is $50 and VIP access is $75. For ticket information see www.wellawareworld.org. The VIP experience includes mingling with Saints of Valory artists and the Well Aware Projects Team prior to the show. It also includes a private bar with newly released bottled beer from Thirsty Planet, Untouched Poetry with Ryan Ashley and the best view in the house for the show.
Well Aware will also make a special announcement about new partnerships to help implement more water infrastructure globally as well as its work with Saints of Valory for 2016.
After being named Billboard’s Top Unsigned Artists of 2012, The American alternative rock band signed with Atlantic Records. The origins of the band are rooted in a childhood friendship while their parents were missionaries in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where the band formed in 2008.
In November 2010, Saints of Valory self-released their first EP The Bright Lights, featuring an early version of “Providence,” which entered the Top 50 at Triple A Radio. In May of 2011, the band self-released their second EP, KIDS, which broke into iTunes’ Top Rock Albums chart. They were chosen as one of Billboard’s top six unsigned bands nationwide.
Since then Saints of Valory signed with Atlantic Records and released the EPs Possibilities and V. The EPs were produced by Grammy Award-winner Joe Chiccarelli (The Strokes, The White Stripes) and the band. “Neon Eyes” and “Long Time Coming” became Top 10 hits.
