Well Aware’s Current Water Projects
Each community listed here has submitted a sustainability project proposal that has been approved by our Board. Every proposal and project budget are available from project pages.
We partner with various other organizations to ensure lasting change for each community, but
Well Aware provides funding for the water systems for each initiative. The costs listed here are for water systems only.

Kasarani is located near Naivasha, Kenya, and the community there is suffering greatly from lack of clean water. The 9,000 people in the area have a hospital that will not survive and a school that can’t educate the children unless they gain access to a sustainable water solution.
Well Aware, in partnership with the Austin Cosmopolitan Rotary Club, the Naivasha Rotary Club, and the local community, will install a community water well with multiple water points and a distribution kiosk. It will be located central to the community members and situated next to the hospital and primary school. This water will will provide clean water for all purposes to Kasarani for decades.

Maai Mahiu is located in the Naivasha District of Kenya where access to water is a great challenge. The community also struggles with poverty and disease, but CTC International is making a big impact and change there. With a clean water source, they can expand their operations and continue to heal, educate and employ more people of Maai Mahiu.
Well Aware, in partnership with CTC International, will provide a rainwater collection system for the nutrition center on CTC's land in Maai Mahiu. This sustainable water solution will provide water to CTC's children, employees, guests and volunteers for years to come.

The Irbaan School sits on the edge of Kenya’s Maasai Mara, and there are many children in the area who are unable to receive and education because they have no where to go. This rural school has the potential to hold 500-1000 boarding students to educate the children in the community, but they can’t without clean water.
Well Aware, in partnership with The Nobelity Project and the local community, will install two new water systems for Irbaan that will provide purified water for drinking, cooking, and washing for all students, as well as light for the girls in their dorm to be able to study at night. This water system will enable thousands of students to receive an education and better health.

Austin, Texas residents Sami Cassis and Lorraine Thirion visited the Ndatani School and felt compelled to give assistance. They contacted Well Aware and proposed a partnership to drill a borehole on the property of the Ndatani secondary school, which was recently completed by Build Africa Schools. This borehole will provide drinking water for the primary and secondary schools (total of 1250 day students) as well as 100 village families (~700 people) through a short pipeline with a water faucet at the edge of the school property. The funds for the drilling and casing of the borehole and partially for technical supervision will be provided by the private donors. Well Aware will cover the costs of the pump, elevated storage tank, solar panels, and distribution pipes.
