Erin B. Dempsey is a commercial real estate attorney at Dykema Gossett PLLC, a firm that serves clients from all around the world from twelve different offices. Erin graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.A. in Latin American Studies and History. During the year after graduation and prior to entering law school, Erin moved to San Jose, Costa Rica in order to travel, take Spanish classes and teach English to young business men and women in and around the San Jose area. She also spent time backpacking around Europe and working as a substitute teacher in various high schools in and around San Antonio, Texas. In 1998, Erin attended Emory School of Law in Atlanta, Georgia and upon graduation she moved to Dallas, Texas where she practiced commercial real estate law for nearly twelve years before returning to Austin in 2013.
In March of 2014, Erin lost her beautiful father, James P. Boyle, to brain cancer. This terrible loss led her to join in the fight against brain cancer. Erin created and became captain of “Team Boyle” for the Head for the Cure Foundation (HFTC) 5K Event in Austin which was held in March of 2014. Not only was Team Boyle the largest team at the event, but Erin also raised the most money individually and Team Boyle raised the most money collectively. The success of the Austin event inspired Erin to work towards bringing the HFTC 5K to San Antonio. The first HFTC event in San Antonio was a huge success, raising over $120,000, and the most successful inaugural race the HFTC has ever held.
Shortly after her dad’s death, Erin learned that he had wanted to travel to Africa and provide aid to the people there in any way he could. He wanted to impact the world in a positive way. And Erin, just like her dad, wants to make the world a better place through her work with Well Aware.
