Mbalawala, Tanzania

A water well was constructed for Mbalawala ten years ago by an organization other than Well Aware. Unfortunately, it was constructed incorrectly and completely failed to continue working a year later. Since then, the community has been forced to pull water from an open hole just to survive. The water in the hole is stagnant and there is no protection from bacteria or debris, making it extremely contaminated.

Well Aware has designed a rehabilitation project that will re-equip the failed well with a solar-powered submersible pump and solar panels that will keep the water clean. We will also install further distribution to provide water at the schools in the area.

Project Type: Borehole rehabilitation

Project Completion: Not yet completed

Population Impacted: 2,500

Location: Dodoma Region, Tanzania
