Unwrapping 2025: Resilience, Gratitude, and the Road Ahead

This year hasn’t been easy. For Well Aware, 2025 has tested every ounce of our resilience – as a team, as a mission, and as a community of people who believe deeply that clean water should never be out of reach.

Between global uncertainty, shifting donor priorities, and the day-to-day realities of keeping our systems strong in East Africa, there were moments that truly stretched us. Yet, through it all, one thing remained constant: people like you showing up.

Because of your belief in our work, every Well Aware system built continues to flow. Our team in East Africa has kept pumps humming, tanks clean, and communities thriving. Our engineers continue to innovate on smart technology that extends the lifespan of our wells far beyond the global average. And while the world felt heavy, our commitment to dignity-driven water infrastructure never wavered.

This year also brought bright moments that reminded us why this work matters so deeply. In October, members of our team traveled to Washington, D.C., to represent Well Aware at the .ORG Impact Awards, where we were recognized among global leaders using innovation for good. We also had the privilege of meeting with U.S. representatives to discuss how policy can better support the nonprofit sector – not just as a charitable act, but as a smart investment in the future.

And at home, our incredible staff, from Austin to the field, have carried this mission with heart and tenacity. They’ve adapted, created, and kept the lights on (and the water flowing) in one of the toughest years we’ve faced in over a decade.

As we look toward 2026, we’re “unwrapping” not just the lessons of this year, but the incredible hope that still drives us forward. Every well repaired, every woman who no longer walks for miles, every child who can now go to school – these are the gifts that matter most.
