From Amy Poehler to Dr. Auma Obama, we’ve had the incredible honor of recognizing some inspiring indivuduals through the Well Aware Impact Awards — presented annually at the gala. This year, we’re excited to recognize two outstanding organizations who are truly changing the world for the better.
Chris Long – The Chris Long Foundation’s Waterboys | 2024 Global Impact Award
Chris Long is an NFL legend, two-time Super Bowl champion, and the 2018 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award winner. He launched the Chris Long Foundation and its signature initiative, Waterboys, in 2015, mobilizing athletes and fans to raise awareness of the global clean water crisis and support lasting solutions. Through Waterboys, the Foundation has funded over 135 solar-powered, deep borehole wells in East Africa and 39 clean water projects across the United States, bringing water to 570,000 people- 17,000 of those lives being with Well Aware. Marsh Lavenue – INTERA Incorporated | 2024 Geoffrey S. Ryder Ambassador of the Year
Since 2008, Marsh Lavenue, PhD, has led INTERA Incorporated as CEO and Chairman, driving its impressive growth and success through a commitment to innovation, sustainability, and stewardship. In 2023, INTERA’s Ron Lantz Stewardship Award winner collaborated with Well Aware to implement practical geophysical survey methods for use in optimizing water well drilling locations in Kenya, improving the cost-effectiveness of Well Aware funds into the future. Although retiring as CEO at the end of 2024, Marsh’s huge heart for stewardship will continue to leave a lasting legacy. Read his full biography here.

Over the last fifteen years, with your support, we’ve been able to transform the lives of more than 525,000 people across 130+ water projects in East Africa. All while maintaining a 100% project success rate, compared with the industry average of 40%.
But there are still many more communities and people in need of clean water.
