The Well Beyond App by Well Aware Receives Coveted Anthem Award

“We are incredibly honored to have been named an Anthem Award winner in the Responsible Technology category. We created the Well Beyond app to better serve the communities that we provide clean water for in East Africa and it is humbling to see our work recognized. The power of technology is immense, and we are fortunate to be able to use it as a tool to keep water systems up and running for years to come.”

Meet Eremet, Kenya, a small, remote community where the roads turn to dust in the dry season and become completely impassable when it rains. It’s not easy to get there, but once you do, it’s more than worth it.

Back in 2015, we partnered with Eremet to rehabilitate a borehole, and since then, everything has changed. Kids can stay in school. Waterborne illnesses are no longer a daily threat. The community feels safer, healthier, and more hopeful.

Clean water didn’t just improve life in Eremet; it helped the whole community grow. 💧

Read more about Eremet through the eyes of our Operations Officer, Jecinta, at the link in our bio!

Meet Perpetual! 👋

She is a Grade 8 student at Mitero Junior School, where she loves studying her favorite subject, Social Studies. She’s especially happy at school now because she has access to clean water. 💧

At home, she is responsible for taking care of the cattle, washing her clothes, and fetching water. Before, she had to walk 6 km every day to collect water from a nearby river, when it was available. Sometimes, her family went two or more days without water.

Now, thanks to reliable access to clean water at her school, life has become much easier for her and her family! 🧑‍🧑‍🧒

Meet Maundu! 👋

Maundu is a student from the Kitonyini community in Kenya with a powerful dream: to become a lawyer and fight for human rights.

Although he`s never had to miss school to collect water, he used to walk to the river every day after class to fetch it for his family. "Getting to school takes me 30 minutes if I run, much longer if I walk."

This daily burden had taken away the time he could spend reading, studying, or simply being a kid. But access to clean water has changed everything for Maundu. It has brought him joy and given him his time back.

“I will not be thirsty anymore. I will be healthy. I will be clean.”

Meet the Nyakio Community! 👋

Last summer, we drilled a new borehole at Nyakio Secondary School in Kenya, providing clean water to a rapidly growing community that has tripled in size over the past decade.

Thanks to a previous Well Aware project at Nyakio Primary in 2014, the community has seen remarkable progress; students now stay in school, families are healthier, and the village continues to thrive.

This latest project is more than just a water source. It’s a symbol of hope, resilience, and the lasting impact of clean water on education, opportunity, and community development.
