Benard

Benard has aspirations of becoming a doctor. When he’s not studying, his chores at home include looking after the livestock and fetching water. Because the streams in his village are seasonal, he used to travel 20 kilometers for water during the dry season. The stream was also polluted by many animals that used its water. Without water storage tanks in his home or community, not much water could be stored and Benard had to fetch water every other day to provide enough for his family.

With the new water system we implemented in 2022 at his school, Benard no longer has to worry about missing class to walk for water! He can focus on his studies and dreams of becoming a doctor and can bring clean water for his family on his way home from school.
